 Brief history of the academy. Main dates and events.

1944 – Crimean Pedagogical College was established. It was one of the first special secondary school on training pedagogical stuff. School section,( in 1944), preschool branch (1955), music and pedagogical branch(1957). Extramural form of study was introduced in 1965.

1994 - Crimean Pedagogical College defines the status of Pedagogical college in Yalta by decision of Attestation Commission of Ukraine.

1998- Pedagogical college in Yalta was declared as educational institution of the II-level of accreditation.

1998 - Crimean University for the Humanities was established by decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine № 1411 on the basis of Pedagogical college in Yalta and branch in Yevpatoriya of Pedagogical college in Simferopol.

2005 - Crimean University for the Humanities was recognised as higher educational establishment of the III-level of accreditation.

2010 – Four institutions were created: Institute of social Sciences in Yevpatoriya, Institute of pedagogics, psychology and inclusive education, Institute of Economics and management, Institute of Philology, history and arts.

2015 – It was decided to create university on the basis of seven educational organizations (including separate structural units) and seven scientific organizations, including Crimean University for the Humanities (Humanities and Education Science Academy).

 

The University includes 3 Institutes in Yalta (Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology and Inclusive Education; Institute of Economics and Management; Institute of Language, Literature and Arts), College of Economics and Humanities, Institute of Social Sciences in the city of Yevpatoria, University Branch in the city of Armyansk.
There are 22 chairs at the University; the staff consists of more than 300 lecturers: 35 Doctors of Sciences and 101 Candidates of Sciences, Honoured Artists of Ukraine and Russia are among them.

There are 4,250 full-time and extra-mural students. The University provides masters, post-graduate and doctoral studies, school teachers’ skills upgrading courses, second higher education courses.

The admission of foreign citizens and persons destitute of nationality to the Crimean University for the Humanities is realized to all 16 specialties, for which the educational work licenses have been granted by the State Accreditation Committee of Ukraine.

Today the state policy in the sphere of students’ education is being successfully realised at the University. There has been completed a certain system of educational work, its contents, organisation forms and methods being enriched, its productivity has risen.

The measures taken are aimed, first of all, at updating the educational contents and structure on the basis of domestic traditions and modern (including foreign) experience, providing the integrity of teaching and educational processes, balancing the state, public and family education, its modern mechanisms and priorities.

Our University is well-known for its cultural and educational traditions. There are two museums (Museum of the University History, Museum of Bandura and Kobzarhood of the Crimea), picture gallery that lists over 100 works of art executed by the faculty and students.

Far outside the Crimea they know the name of the National actor of Ukraine A. Gulianitsky, ensembles of the University – National ensemble of bandura players, National chamber choir “Renaissance” – the laureate of the international festivals of free spiritual creativity, the international contests of choirs, the All-Russia contest “Crystal muse”, laureates of republican contests among educational institutions – student’s national drama theatre, participant of theatre groups’ contest, vocal ensemble “Youth”, the participant of “Tavriysky games” festival“– folklore ensemble “Аquenta”, jazz orchestra, student’s variety ensemble “Traveling Band”, vocal studio of variety singing; students’ theatre of miniatures “Constellation”.

Annually on the base of CUH the International contest of young executors “The Crimean spring” is carried out in the following nominations: piano, the strings, vocal, grand piano ensemble, folk instruments. Students of the faculty of aesthetic education take part in this contest, many of them became its laureates.

The “KVN” (Club of smart and jolly people) team of the University – a member of the supreme league of KVN teams of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea – more than once became a prize-winner in the competitions held among KVN teams of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea.

Organisation of educational process in the Crimean University for the Humanities is based on the state laws in the sphere of education, on the National Doctrine of Education Development in Ukraine, Statute on organisation of educational process in the higher schools, state standards of education, and other state acts of Ukraine, regulating the educational process. The principles of science, humanity, democracy, succession and continuity, independence from the influence of any politic parties, other public and religious organisations are strictly observed.

Highly skilled scientific staff has been formed in the University. It provides a qualified specialists’ training and also performs a research work in the sphere of humanities. Among the lecturers there are many scientists, whose names are very famous in Ukraine and in other countries: Professor, Doctor in Pedagogical Sciences, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical sciences, Honoured Scientist of Ukraine – O. Gluzman; Professor, Doctor in Pedagogical Sciences, Honoured Scientist of Ukraine – N. Ignatenko; Professor, Doctor in Psychological Sciences, Academician of the Academy of Psychological Sciences of Ukraine – T. Yatsenko; Professor, Doctor in economical sciences – V. Podsolonko.

The educational process in the University is organised in accordance with the modern multi-component education, abilities of modern information technologies of education and is directed on forming an educated, harmonically-developed personality, able to constant renewal of scientific knowledge, professional mobility and fast adaptation for changes and developing in a socio-cultural area, in areas of technologies, systems of management in conditions of marketing economy.

The most important directions in the pedagogical activity of the University are the following: promotion of the education quality, introduction of personality-oriented pedagogical technologies into the educational process, characteristic peculiarities such as highly individual personal development and up-bringing, creation of conditions for self-development and self-education, realisation of the own abilities and life goals. This type of education is based on a dialogue, modelling of decision-making situations, points of view exchange, and success advancing.
