Rules of first-aid treatment to foreign citizens in the Russian Federation
«Rules of first-aid treatment to foreign citizens in the Russian Federation» are approved by Government Regulation № 186 of Russian Federation dated 06.03.2013 which provides that «emergency medical care and planned medical care» to foreigners is a fee-paying (except foreigners insured in accordance with Art. 10 of the Law № 326- FL dated 29.11.2010.). The requirement of health care is a contract for the provision of paid services or emergency and planned medical care can be provided on the basis of voluntary medical insurance (VMI policy).
Health Insurance
International students are required to have proper health insurance in Russia. They must present their insurance policies when crossing the Russian border, applying for admission to the University and moving into the University’s residence halls.
An insurance policy must provide coverage for:
- inpatient and outpatient treatment;
- medical emergencies;
- dental treatment to alleviate pain or due to accident;
- medical transportation;
- unscheduled return;
- repatriation of remains;
- prenatal care up to 29 weeks of pregnancy.
